Hi All, I have decided to commit to IU with a direct admit to Kelley. I toured the KLLC on red carpet day and really want to live there. I am OOS and could really use that sense of community my freshman year since I will know virtually nobody. Anyone have advice about my chances of getting in?

Financial Aid for IU-Bloomington

Hi I recently got my “financial aid” package, in which I was thankful to be awarded a $6k scholarship. However, there was no additional financial aid award. I looked at the shopping sheet and my determined amount I could afford was about $24k according to the University. The question I’m trying to ask is does IU Bloomington offer financial aid separate from scholarships? And if so, if I didn’t get awarded any, can I appeal?

I am trying to get an estimate of the work load/average number of hours for a 15 credit workload. I know their are a lot of factors but I understand students will spend about 15 hours in class. How much additional study and homework time does the typical student spend?

With the Indiana University Kelley Business School being so large (7k), does it give you somewhat the feeling of being a 7,000 student college as apposed to a 48,000 person university?

So, today is the day the Kelley School said they would give responses to students who missed the November 1 application deadline but submitted a petition for direct admission before December 1st. I’m wondering if anyone has already heard back this year in response to their Kelley School petition? Also, if anyone starts hearing their petition response tomorrow by email (or seeing any updates in their portals), perhaps you could post in this thread to confirm that the decisions are coming out?

SSA: Scholarships under To Do List

Hi all, I was wondering about the To Do List in the One.IU Student Center. Under this section, one of the two things is "SSA: Scholarships." I've received a scholarship from Hutton but I am still hopeful about a scholarship from the College of Arts & Sciences. I was under the impression that once you received all the scholarships you were going to get, the "SSA: Scholarships" would disappear from the To Do List. Is this true, or am I just assuming incorrectly?

Does anyone here know if it is worth taking the honors version of A201 (A205)? I want to know if it is more work and whether the tests are harder or not. I'll be taking K304, C106, D271, and T275 alongside it.

Hey all, I'm an incomming freshman who just committed to IU who is wondering about my chances of getting into the KLLC. I am not a direct admit to Kelley—does that make me not as competitive as an applicant for the learning center? How competitive is it? Any advice on what to include in my KLLC housing application?

Questions about IU from an incoming freshman

I'll be attending IU in the fall pursuing business and standard admission to Kelley. IU was not my first choice school, so I just recently committed and I did not realize that one could petition DA decisions until after the deadline (1350 SAT, 4.2 GPA). I had a couple questions: 1. What are the best classes/professors to try and take freshman year to maximize my chances of being admitted into Kelley? 2. How challenging are the classes and getting to the required 3.5 to get in? 3. Since I committed to Indiana late and paid the housing deposit March 28, are my chances of getting into Northwest low? If you don't get into Northwest, is the social life really not as good? What is the overall social life at IU like? 4. KLLC: Is it worth it to send in an application to live in the KLLC, or is it too late? What's life like in KLLC (opportunities, dorm life)? Are there single dorms in the KLLC? I requested single, northwest (in that order) and enhanced, but will change it if it's worthwhile to apply. 5. Would you recommend rushing a fraternity in spring semester, or is the culture too consuming, especially as someone trying to do well for admission to Kelley and or for transfer applications? I'm a little nervous coming from NJ to a big state school like IU, is the hazing really as bad as people say it is here? 6. Any good tips for an incoming freshman at IU and life at Kelley. Any help is really appreciated! THANK YOU!

How hard is IU Kelley in terms of grading and workloads?

Hi everyone, I am currently a senior in high school who will likely head to IU Kelley next year. Although I am a direct admit, I don't feel that confident about doing well in college; since my sat just hit the minimum score of direct admit (with superscore). I heard alot of my friends who are current college students telling me that college is not that easy, so I really worry about my future. I really want to know how hard is IU Kelley and what I can start to do now to improve myself academically.

Hi--trying to decide if it is worth the drive to Indiana to attend a red carpet day. We attended a Discover IU day last March and I cannot tell what would be different with this event than the one we already went to. Thanks in advance for your help, Ilisa

Hello! Does anyone know the timing of the notice of SSA Scholarship awards? Thus far my S has received a Deans Scholarship in the amount of $11,000, but I'm not certain whether or not this is an SSA? Is the Hutton also something awarded separately, and to whom? Is there a separate application? Any information any of you have would be most appreciated! IU is a top pick, but out of state for us, and even a little bit more scholarship money would put us within range of some of his other offers. Thanks!

I just recently decided I would apply to IU (officially applied April 5th). My dad suffered from a stroke in August and I wasn't sure I was ready to leave him, seeing that my parents are divorced and I am his sole caretaker (which I explained in full in my essay). I have a 4.65 weighted GPA and an 1140 SAT, and an extremely strong letter of recommendation from my counselor. I've gotten into Missouri and Oklahoma but I'm not sure on my chances at IU because I'm applying so late. Anyone think I have a chance?

Will I be competitive for SICE (Computer Science)

So I'm finishing up my Junior year and this has been my strongest year yet and I'm feeling great going into my Senior year. My freshman year was awful and my sophomore year was a recovery and I feel my junior year I truly shined and showed who I am as a student, here's my stats right now: Freshman: 2.077 Sophomore: 3.143 Junior: 4.0/4.5 W Cumulative after this year will be a 3.07, if I do just as good Sr as I did this year I'll finish HS with 3.3 ACT: 30 (Waiting for scores from most recent test I took, thinking it's probably gonna be higher than 30) 29 E, 28 M, 28 S, 33 R Extra Currics: Y-Club Member (Mock United Nations/State Legislation served as a special role in both) | Hopefully, will be an officer next year Youth Impact Officer School AP Advisory Board Head/Only Web Developer and local media lead for local non-profit Got invited to National Honor Society this last week so hopefully, my application goes well and I'll be on there! I lead, managed, and planned a volunteer project with the vocational school I go to for half of the day to feed the local homeless on Veterans Day Lead a preparation conference for all the middle school Y-Clubs in my county Classes this year: AP US History AP Language Algebra 2 College Prep Math Class Culinary Arts (Half Day) Planned Courses for Sr Year: AP Physics 1 AP Literature Honors Biology AP Computer Science Principles Dual Credit Into to Programming in Java class Honors Pre-Calc Health/Strength and Conditioning Just as a closing note, I'm going to apply no matter what because if I've learned anything in the last year as I've grown to the person I am now that you can't ever succeed if you don't try. I do just want to know in general if this is a school I have a chance with, it's close to home and seems to really fit my style for where I want to go to college I just have no clue how competitive the SICE/Computer Science program is and I have heard IU in general is getting pretty competitive.

Spanish placement exam score

I was looking at my transfer credit report on student center and saw a test at the very bottom labeled PLTBL UD255 with a score, which I can only assume is the Spanish placement exam that I took online. Does anyone know what that score is out of? My account is displaying my score as a 964, but I don't know what that means. Thank you!
